dear members of the DWG,
I am very pleased to invite you already now to the next annual meeting in 2022 in Berlin. Our annual congress will take place from December 7 to 9, 2022 in the brand new congress center "hub 27". The "hub 27" is located on the exhibition grounds of our capital and offers the advantage to combine all congress parts, such as the central plenary session, the lunch workshops and the industry exhibition in a compact way. This is highly conducive to the "togetherness" within the framework of our spine congress.
At our 17th annual congress, we will also maintain the proven format without parallel sessions, but with state-of-the-art lectures, pro-and-con debates and scientific presentations. The annual meeting is themed 'Excellence through Research and Innovation', reflecting our mission to further strengthen the academic aspects of our society for the future.
Accordingly, we want to collectively consider what areas of research may be exciting and relevant to us for the successful advancement of spine medicine. We also want to learn fromSpine Surgeon Scientists how to combine clinical and scientific activities. Finally, we will highlight ways in which we can improve the translation of innovations from the bench to our patients.
Of course, you will again have the opportunity to submit your latest research results on special topics such as "Myelopathy, Spinal Oncology, Navigation/Robotics, Spinal Cord Trauma, Frailty". However, it seems equally important to me to better involve our many members who are active in the non-academic fields and to design an attractive program for them as well.
We have invited France as our partner country and we are sure to welcome a large number of prominent speakers in Berlin who are well known to you.
The grand finale of the congress will be our social evening on Friday evening in the former telegraph office of the capital Berlin, now the capital representative office of Telekom, near the Gendarmenmarkt.
I am looking forward to your visit and to an enjoyable and inspiring congress together.
With best regards from Berlin,
